Riskpool is a mutual liability fund created by New Zealand local authorities to provide professional indemnity and public liability protection for councils and CCOs (Council Controlled Organisations).  However, because of the size and unevenness of the exposure, cover from Riskpool for councils’ claims relating to ‘leaky buildings’ has been significantly reduced since 1 July 2006.

Contributions to Riskpool are levied according to each member's risk profile. Riskpool itself does not have a credit rating, but its reinsurers are all rated ‘A’ or better.
